Great Hair Behind the Mask? Advance Techniques Hair Treatment Masks

A couple of weeks ago, a good friend of mine came to me with a hair issue that a lot of us ladies have – hair breakage. She recently had a Brazilian straightening treatment along with a color and her hair was breaking badly! I could definitely feel her pain!  There was a time I was relaxing my hair way too often and bad breakage was an inevitable result.  She needed help and asked me for suggestions.  Our hair types, however, are completely different and though I knew that a good conditioner would definitely be part of the hair solution, I had no idea what to recommend!

After asking around, I was able to get my hands on some great samples from Advance Techniques to try out.  I gave my friend the Intense Repair Moisture Mask while I kept the Moisture Sleek Gel Treatment Mask.  After using them for a couple of weeks, these were our results:

Advanced Techniques Intense Repair Moisture Mask

This moisture mask claims to leave hair 90% smoother after the first use.  It’s supposed to reduce frizz and static while strengthening and softening the hair.  Before using the mask, my friend’s hair was suffering from very bad breakage and was practically un-brushable.  She used it as a leave in conditioner and it made her hair soft enough to brush through.  She also noticed that her hair looked healthier and didn’t leave her hair feeling greasy.  As far as the breakage, she told me it didn’t help that problem at all.

I replaced my usual (and favorite conditioner) for this hair mask for a couple of weeks.  After shampooing as usual, I put this in my hair, making sure to comb it through and left it on my hair for about 2 to 3 minutes before rinsing it out.  I didn’t notice any unusual hair breakage, which is definitely a good thing!  It did leave my hair soft, but not as baby-bottom soft as my other conditioner.  I also found that it had to be rinsed out really well, otherwise you would find dandruff like residue in your hair.

The overall verdict:  These masks were good but unfortunately nothing that we would necessarily rave about.
