Beauty Blast: Makeup by Sue Devitt

One of the things I love about blogging is discovering new brands and last month I was introduced to the eyeshadows and lip products from Sue Devitt.  Inspired by her trips to exotic locations, makeup artist Sue Devitt created her own line of beauty, makeup, and skincare products.  Her work has been seen on the runways of Oscar de la Renta, Marc Jacobs, and Versace. To her, beauty is an adventure with collections such as Enticed by India and colors like Burma and Sierra Leon.  I had the chance to try out some of her products the last few weeks.

One of the first things I liked about the eyeshadows were the cute, silver compacts they came in.  They were very sleek and stylish, with an individual mirror that makes application a lot easier to see.  On the back, the type of shadow and color were very easy to read, which I really appreciated.  The colors I received were:

The Electric Sheen shadows had such a deep pigmentation with a touch of shimmer, especially the Jaipur (aka an awesome hot pink color).  The Silky Sheen shadow was more subtle and natural looking, which is great for a day look.  All the shadows lasted all day without any creasing which is a great plus

 Brown Eyeshadow

I blended Burma and Sierra Leon all over the lid and brow bone for a deep, yet natural eye look.

Pink Eye Shadow

I had fun with Jaipur, using it as my highlighting shade and then blended a purple shade from the crease to the brow bone for a fun pinky purple look.

I also tried out the Balanced Matte Lipstick in Colony and the Lip Intensifying Pencil in Maui.  I didn’t take any photos because the shade didn’t work for me, however using Sue’s tip of using the pencil lightly on my lips first and then layer on the lipstick with a lip brush gave my lips a rich and bold color.  I was very impressed with the pencil, which glided on so smooth and packed so much color on its own.  I also liked that it had a handy lip brush on the other end.

Overall I was very pleased with products I was given for review.  Though the products are on the pricey end ($18 per shadow, $20 for the lipstick, and $22 for the pencil), getting some bold shades in the Electric Sheen finish is totally worth it!

I like the pink a lot and your new hair style is this temporary or have you decided on a new look?

  3. That pink looks so pretty! I can see how it was inspired by exotic vacations. I’d feel like I was on one just wearing the color!
