Fierce OOTD: Rocking Two Trends At Once

Spring Trends

I have to admit, I’ve been a bit uninspired lately when it comes to my wardrobe.    I guess I’m still getting used to the drastic lifestyle change I’ve been going through.  I went from the 9 to 5 married lady office job to a stay-at-home freelancing mom.  All of my go-to outfits just don’t fit my life right now, my black trousers collecting some serious dust.  Anything that has to be dry cleaned is out of the question and I even had to cut back on my jewelry ware (the princess has way too much fun with them at my expense!)  Needless to say my personal style is going through some major changes and I’m still trying to figure in the fashion I love while being practical at the same time.

So in the meantime,  I’m left to jazzing up my casual wear. You can’t go wrong with layering, which puts my bright colored tanks to good use.  This hot pink one I scored at the Ecko Outlet was perfect, the racerback more appropriate for working out then for a day out.  I pulled this oversized shirt I hadn’t worn in awhile and when I threw it on I got the idea to tie it.  Don’t know why I hadn’t thought of it before!  it does a great job hiding this mommy belly.  I also didn’t realize I was wearing two the latest trends at the same time – Neon and black and white.  Double score!

As for accessories, I also wanted to wear some oldies I hadn’t worn in awhile.  The cross necklace gave me the little edge this mom needed while the stretchy bracelets and earrings plaid off the pink for some more pops of color.  The shoes – yeah the heels stayed home on this one!  Besides, I wanted to show my Reeboks some love!

Have you ever had to do a major wardrobe overhaul due to a life change?  How did you deal with it?

Fierce OOTD: Showing off a Shoulder

One Shoulder Dress

I wore this little number for my wedding anniversary lunch with my husband and daughter last week.  I wanted to wear something fun and a little sexy especially since he sees me in nothing but sweats and t-shirts everyday!  I also didn’t want to get too dressy because we headed out to Buffalo Wild Wings, one of our favorite places to eat.  The last time we ate there was on our honeymoon in Orlando and we fell in love with their wings.  We are big wing afficionados and this place is high on the list.  They have a ton of flavors to choose from ranging from sweet and mild to burn your mouth off hot.  My goal in life is to try them all!

Print Dress

{One sleeved dress:  Flea Market; Black Flats: Target}

I bought this dress a few weeks ago and in the unlikeliest of places.  I was at the Swap Shop down in Ft. Lauderdale which is a huge flea market.  They sell everything from car parts and appliances to perfume and jewelry.  It’s one of those places where if you can’t find it there, they just don’t make it.  I was especially looking for some inexpensive sun dresses to wear.  The weather is getting hot and my little girl is getting more mobile so I wanted to get something cool and comfortable that I wouldn’t mind getting dirty.  After only finding one that met my criteria I was heading out and this dress caught my eye.  I like the fact it was off the shoulder but still had a little strap action going on.  The dress is in my favorite color and the print is super interesting.  Plus it was only $12!  Can’t go wrong with that!

Blue Dress

{Silver Hoop Earrings: Claire’s; Beaded Cuff: Old}

After wearing it to the lunch, I found that no matter how it dressed it down with the flats and jewelry it’s not a daytime dress.  The length is super decieving.  It’s fine as long as I’m standing but when sitting down or worse, bending over, I had to be super careful!  And toting the baby around, yeah not made for that.  It’s more of a date night dress, pairing it with my sparkly Maddens and some killer jewelry.  So note to self:  this goes in the Night Out section of my closet.

Have you gone flea market shopping lately?  What did you bring home?

Fierc OOTD: Feeling Trendy in Neon

Plus Size Dress

I’m really feeling the Spring trends this season and find myself wanting to give all of them a try!  One trend that I’m glad to see back is Neon.  It’s all about loud, bold colors and that’s right up my alley!  So when Easter came around this year I wanted to neon and had the perfect dress to do it in.

Ballet Flats

{Neon Green Dress:  New York and Co.; White Button Down: JCPenny; Black Belt: Rainbow; Ballet Flats: Target}

I spent the princess’s first Easter with my family down south.  I needed to wear something that not only was appropriate for church but would be comfortable to wear back at my Mom’s house for brunch and dinner.  This neon green dress was perfect!  I’ve had for a few years now, a piece I came across on the clearance rack.  At the time, I wasn’t too sure about the color because I really didn’t wear too much green, let alone lime green.  But it was seriously marked down to an astounding $7 and I couldn’t pass it up.  Since then I’ve worked it into the 30 x 30 challenge and a Bloggers Do it Better challenge.  I’ve grown to love it!

Plus Size Shirt

The only small downside to this sleeveless dress is the straps are a little ill fitted for me.  I can’t wear it alone because you can see the bra straps so I always have to lay it over with a cardigan or in this case, a button town top.  This shirt has gotten plenty of tranction in my wardrobe rotation!  I love the little puff sleeves and the ruffled flower on the side.  I wore it to work with black trousers or on the weekend with a pair of jeans.  To give the whole look some shape I used my trusty black belt to cinch the waist.  For shoes I wanted cute and comfort and these new ballet flats I bought a few weeks ago were perfect.

{Big Gold Plated Earrings: Forever 21; Vintage Pearl Necklage: Birthday Gift; Brown Beaded Cuff: Old}

I can’t get enough of these gold earrings I purchased for New Years.  Their big, their patterned (did I say their big!)  I never was a big a gold person but there are times when the outfit calls for it, like this one!  I finished it up with the vintage pearl necklace ( I love wearing pearls to church!) and this beaded cuff that I haven’t worn in forever.

How did you spend your Easter weekend?

Fierce OOTD: Colorblock Me

Colorblock Shirt

Ever have those moments where you go in the store for one thing and come out with one (or a few!) things for yourself you didn’t intend on buying?  Yeah, that happens to me…a lot!  I could walk out with a eyeshadow palette (or five!) or a pair of earrings to add to my ever growing collection.  I never splurge or spend too much, but it’s kinda like my reward for being a responsible adult and running errands.  I mean, that makes sense right?

Black Pants

{Colorblock shirt: WalMart; Black trousers: New York and Co; Black Shoes: Payless}

I was heading out to have dinner with my little brother on his 22nd birthday.  I don’t get to see him often with him doing the whole “young adult” thing so I was excited and wanted to wear something fun.  This shirt came about after such a visit to Walmart for onesies and baby formula.  I like the colorblocking trend a lot and wanted to have something in my wardrobe that lets me rock it without thinking too hard about it.  The colors work great for spring as well as the summer and I don’t have anything orange in my closet.  I also love the fact that it’s comfortable and leaves room for the post-baby belly I’m working hard to get rid of.  Instead of going for my jeans, I brushed the dust off one of my beloved New York and Co. trousers.  Oh how I missed wearing them!

Beaded Necklace

{Beaded Necklace:  Blogger Swap; Plated Earrings: Forever 21}

I’ve had this big beaded necklace forever.  Despite the earthy colors I could never find the right outfit to wear it with.  I threw it on with the shirt and it finally works.  Normally I would go with small earrings when wearing such a big necklace but I broke my own rule, just for today.

And oh, I totally didn’t realize my bra strap was showing until editing the pictures.  Good thing it matches the outfit huh? LOL

Fierce OOTD: Love Me Some Denim

Denim overall is one of my fashion obsessions.  I can never have enough of them, always in the same dark wash with a slim fit with enough wiggle room.  Whenever I go shopping for jeans, I leave with at least two pairs and when the weather gets a little nippy, this jacket comes out of the closet.

Old Navy Jeans

{Denim Jacket: Sears; Denim Jeans: Old Navy; Black Striped Shirt:  GAP; Black Sneakers:  Reebok}

I took advantage of the cool weather to also wear this shirt from the GAP.  It saved my life during my pregnancy with it’s stretch material while being cute with it’s thin stripes and v-neckline.  I’ve paired it with everything from dress trousers for the office to jeans for a cute casual look like I did here. With long sleeves it’s perfect for the 60 degree days we occasionally have out here without melting in the sun.  I also left the heels at home and broke out my Reeboks.  I’ve been wearing them a lot lately, especially when I’m toting the princess around!

{Multi-colored scarf:  Beals; Big Circle Earrings: Forever 21}

For a pop of color (you know how I feel about color!) I took this scarf that I normally wear in my hair and wore it as an infinity scarf.  I don’t know why I never thought to wear it like this before!  Granted, it didn’t keep my neck warm from the chilly wind that was blowing out there but it’s all good.  I’ll take one for the love of fashion! 🙂

How do you wear denim?
